Sitting on what once was the Red River Ranch in Fargo, North Dakota, the Red River Zoo is not just your ordinary zoological park. It boasts of being home to a good number of endangered species, including a few of the red pandas that can be found in captivity.

Funded largely by members, donations, admission fees, and grants, the Red River Zoo makes it a point to find a wide array of animals that are indigenous in the north. This helps them stay open even during the winter months.

The Red River Zoo features around 300 animals on its 33 acres of land area. They also have a restored 1928 carousel. It was opened in 1999, making it the most recently opened zoo in the state.
