If you want to witness a dramatic reenactment of the Siege of Fort Meigs, then what better place to watch it than in Fort Meigs itself?

Fort Meigs was a military fort in Ohio used during the War of 1812. It is located along the Maumee River in present day?s city of Perrysburg and constructed in honor of former Ohio governor Return J. Meigs Jr. The governor supported the war cause by providing supplies and militia to General William Henry Harrison. The fort was the biggest wooden walled fort in North America during those times.

Today, at the site of the former Fort Meigs stands an Ohio State Memorial. This is a 65-acre park that includes the full-size replica of the fort. The memorial park?s attractions include Siege of Meigs reenactment, Garrison Ghost Walk, and Muster on the Maumee.
