Also known the War Memorial Fountain and Peace Arising from the Flames of War, the Fountain of Eternal Life is a fountain and statue at the same time. It is located in Memorial Plaza in Cleveland, Ohio and was designed by a Cleveland Institute of Art graduate named Marshall Frederick. The sculpture was dedicated on May 30, 1964 and was built in honor of to the citizens of the city who served in the 2nd World War.
To promote the fountain, the Cleveland Press raised $250,000 of donation from citizens and organizations. The statue stands 35 feet tall and is made of bronze. It depicts a man reaching to the sky as if asking for peace while at the same time escaping the flames of war. In 1991, the memorial was rededicated, following a full restoration.
