The Armstrong Air and Space Museum gives honor to the man, who, at one point in time, was able to do what no man has ever done before, walk on the moon. Neil A. Armstrong was able to complete the greatest journey in human history. Today, his hometown of Wakaponeta, is able to recognize and bring to life his legacy through different exhibits and offerings.

Ohio Governor James Rhodes proposed a museum on July 20, 1969 as a monument to the achievement of Armstrong. In 1970, the museum plans were unveiled during the groundbreaking ceremony. On July 20, 1972, just 3 years after that historic day, Armstrong was present during the facility?s opening together with the President. He even presented moon rocks that were brought back to the Earth from the Apollo 11 journey.

The Museum also houses one-of-a-kind artifacts like the Gemini VIII spacecraft, the Apollo spacesuit of Neil Armstrong, 2 full-size aircraft, and many more.
