The Black Mesa State Park also serves as a nature preserve that is situated near Kenton right in the panhandle of Oklahoma. All the visitors love its rugged park look and you would get to appreciate more its beauty if you would climb on its nearby hills. It is where you can find some footprints of dinosaurs which are fossilized and enjoy a hike that is exciting at the trail of the petrified forest. You can also enjoy fishing as an angler here for the entire state park is one big chance to enjoy some real outdoor adventure.

It took its name from one of the layers of the black lava rock that built the mesa some million years ago. Its natural preserve is situated about 15 miles from the state park and where the highest elevation of Oklahoma can be found. It is about 4,973 feet above sea. There are lots of campsites that you can enjoy in the site perfect for the old school type of camping or even if you have RV.
