The Mabee-Gerrer Musuem of Art was founded in 1919, making it one of the Oklahoma?s oldest museums. The Museum was named after Gregory Ferrer, a Benedictine monk of remarkable artistic talent. He traveled Europe, Africa, and South America. In these travels, he was able to collect objects of ethnological and artistic value which served as the foundation for the Museum?s collection.

The Museum?s permanent collection features Egyptian, Greek, and Roman pieces and artifacts as well as art from the Renaissance through the early 20th century. It also includes large holdings of Native American African/Oceanic and Eastern cultural artifacts. Throughout the year, the museum holds exciting and impressive special exhibitions.

The Museum offers educational programs and hosts special events that complement the heritage and background of its collections.
