Established in 1955 after the proposal of Chester A. Reynolds to honor and commemorate the cowboy and its era, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum is now one of the top places to visit if you?re interested in this part of Western lifestyle and history. It currently holds the world?s largest collection of American rodeo, saddlery, trophies, and photographs.

Aside from the sections where the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum takes a large step in preserving the history of the American West, it is also a place for art. It annually holds the Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition and Sale every June.

The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum also sponsors ?The Wrangler? prize in the Western Heritage Awards.
