Originally constructed to serve as the Snow Mountain Ranger District?s ranger station in 1911, the Allison Ranger Station, located in the remote parts of the Malheur National Forest has already been converted to a summer guard station. It has a good number of historic buildings, dating back to the early years of 1900s, but only one, the oldest structure known as the Donnelly Cabin, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The structures in the Allison Ranger Station are very interesting with their rustic architecture. Every summer, the site is open to visitors, and the cookhouse that was restored in 2005 is already available for rentals as a recreation unit. It can accommodate up to eight people, but visitors are required to bring their own sleeping bags, food, gear, and trash bags.
