Alsea Bay Bridge Rating: None

Crossing the Alsea Bay in Waldport, Oregon is the concrete Alsea Bay Bridge. It was constructed in the late 1980s, in replacement to the older Conde McCullough structure that was completed in 1936.

The older arch bridge on the site was made with reinforced-concrete combination. It deteriorated vastly because of the harsh conditions its environment has exposed it to. The steel reinforcements gave way, so the need to replace it with a new one became clearly apparent.

The current Alsea Bay Bridge was opened in 1991 after being completed for $42.4 million. It measures a total of 2910 feet in length with a 450 foot main span. It was designed with thicker deck and piers so it could withstand the hostile environment the area has.
