On top of the Coxcomb Hill in Astoria, stands the Astoria Column. 600 feet above sea level, this tall building provides visitors an excellent view, overlooking the Columbia River and the city.

The Astoria Column was finally completed in 1926. It was a gift to the city by one of the richest families in the country, as it played a huge role in the success of their enterprise.

The tower itself stands 125 feet in height. To access the observation deck on top of the building, people need to climb the stairs to it, which amounts to 164 steps. The trip wouldn?t be a waste, though, as the sights while on the way is magnificent with all the murals and paintings inside and out of the structure, as well as a magnificent view from the top is waiting.
