Located inside the Mount Hood National Forest is the Bagby Hot Springs. The site is a natural hot springs within the Cascade Mountains and is just outside the Bull of the Woods Wilderness area boundary. It was named after Bob Bagby. He was a hunter and prospector and also the discoverer of the site in 1880.
Although it was only “officially” found in 1880, it is believed that the site has been a favorite among Native Americans for hundreds of years prior to Bagby’s discovery. The natural hot springs are really something enticing, making it a popular tourist destination today, especially since the springs are open 24 hours a day.
If you’re interested in visiting Bagby Hot Springs, you may need to hike 1.5 miles though, as there are no roads leading to the area. A couple of restrictions also apply, so make sure to learn about them beforehand.
