The Barclay House is the former residence of Dr. Forbes Barclay. He was a philanthropist, physician, Arctic explorer, and a former Oregon City mayor. He was a Scotland Native who moved in 1840 to Fort Vancouver to work as the Hudson?s Bay Company?s doctor.

The Barclays lived in the Barclay House from when it was completed in 1849 until the early 1930s when the property was donated to the city. It was relocated on the bluff overlooking Oregon City and adjacent to the McLoughlin House.

The Barclay House houses the offices of the National Park Service and the McLoughlin Memorial Association today. It is also a part of the historic tour of the site being a historic building in itself.
