Built by Oregon?s first State Treasurer, John D. Boon, the Boon Brick Store was built to house a general store in 1860. It functioned as a commercial establishment for some time, not only for Boon, but also for other building owners. It has also served as the State?s Treasure for a while.

Being related to John D. Boon, the two-story, Italianate brick building of Boon Brick Store was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Some legends also surround the building, saying that when the former President Herbert Hoover was a teenager, he carved his initials into the outside walls.

The Boon Brick Store is now operated by the McMenamins chain as a brewpub. It is currently called the Boon?s Treasury.
