The Brunk House was constructed in 1861. Being a representative of farm houses of that era, it was restored to contain items like those in the 1900?s homes. The Museum also houses tools and farming equipment that were common during that period.

On its grounds are different types of gardens, an old-fashioned vegetable garden, an herb garden, a rose garden, and a flower garden. The Museum also boasts of grapevines and apple trees. The guest house has also served as the Polk County Historical Society?s office building as well as a display privy, a woodshed which also displayed small tools.

The Museum?s new buildings are designed to blend with the original structures, which includes a public restroom and a machine shed for the protection of large equipment.
