Built in the mid 1930s to serve as the Forest Service?s ranger station, the Cabin Lake Guard Station is now a popular destination for birdwatchers and nature photographers. Located inside the beautiful Deschutes National Forest in Oregon, the guard station may be closed to the public, but the historic buildings can still be viewed from the campgrounds while enjoying the other beautiful sights available.

The Cabin Lake Guard Station is primarily composed of six main buildings and a series of other structures. They used to house the Fort Rock Ranger District?s rangers and fire crews. The buildings are being restored, though, and are slated to open as recreational rental cabins once the project was completed.
Visitors can enjoy bird watching, nature photography, and camping in this remote area inside the Deschutes National Forest.
