Also known as the Rochester Covered Bridge, the Calapooya Creek Covered Bridge is located northwest of Sutherlin. It was built in 1933 by expert builder Floyd Frear, combining the elements of aesthetics and functionality

What sets the Calapooya Creek Covered Bridge apart from the other structures of the sort in the state of Oregon is that it has windows with gracefully curved tops. Being quite a charming bridge, it was saved from the imminent danger of being burned down and replaced with a concrete bridge. Luckily, the locals united and protected the bridge by literally guarding it through the night while armed with guns and rifles.

The action helped the county officials to be restored and remodeled in 1969, further prolonging its life.
