Cape Meares Light was built in 1890 and served the coast of Oregon in Cape Meares in the south of Tillamook Bay from its completion up to 1963, when it was deactivated. It was also replaced by a new tower the same year.

The Cape Meares Light is now under the care of the Oregon State Parks Department and is open to the public. For the longest time, visitors can climb up the tower and see the Fresnel lens that dates back to the late 1800s, until it was vandalized in January 2010, which also caused up to $500,000 worth of property damages.

The Cape Meares Light is still open to the public today, restored and in good condition after its full recovery from the series of vandalism that it experienced through the years.
