The Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park is a state park and recreation area in Florence, Oregon. It is a great destination thanks to its accessibility through Highway 101.
A great number of people tend to shy away from state parks and recreation areas that are located off a highway, mostly for the noise. However, at the Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park, all visitors will hear is the pounding sound of the surf and not the vehicles passing by. This is all thanks to the native plants that stand as a buffer between the campsites and the highway.
Camping, picnicking, wildlife watching, bird watching, fishing, and hiking are some of the most popular activities at the park. Visitors can also learn a little more about local history while at the site thanks to the historic trails, interpretive displays, and historic sites found in the park.
