Located near the mouth of the Columbia River in Astoria, Oregon, the Columbia River Maritime Museum is basically a place that documents, displays, and exhibits the area’s rich maritime history. It was founded in 1962 and became the first museum in Oregon to meet the standards of the national accreditation requirements of the American Association of Museums.

The official state maritime museum of the state, the Columbia River Maritime Museum is best known for its exhibits with excellent quality and its collections’ great scope. It was founded by Rolf Klep, a fervent maritime artifact collector.
The Columbia River Maritime Museum features artifacts from the Pacific Northwest and Columbia River. It also has at least 30,000 objects, 7000-volume library, and 15000 photographs related on the field.
