What better way is there to commemorate a bridge builder?s excellence and great contributions than by building a memorial closely related to his craft, right? This is the very case of the Conde McCullough Memorial Bridge in North Bend, Oregon. It was opened in 1936 and originally called the Coos Bay Bridge as it crosses the said body of water, but was renamed in 1947 to honor the great bridge designer.

The Conde McCullough Memorial Bridge is a cantilever bridge. This design is seen fit because the structure spans quite a long distance being 1708 feet long and 793 feet wide. It is mostly made with concrete arches, which is a distinctive character of McCullough?s design.

The Conde McCullough Memorial Bridge had a total cost of more than $2 million and is now being used as the official symbol of North Bend.
