Coquille River Light Rating: None

Formerly called the Bandon Light, the Coquille River Light is a small, yet beautiful lighthouse in Bandon, Oregon. It was first lit in 1896 to help mariners get through the treacherous waters of the Coquille River.

The Coquille River Light is quite simple with just a basic red and white tower. It is also relatively smaller than other towers in the state, but it still did its job well. However, due to the misfortunes that the town went through during the 1930s (a wild fire and decline in shipping activities), it soon went bankrupt. The lighthouse was then deactivated and replaced.

Luckily, before the structure succumbed to utter deterioration and destruction, restorations took place. The project was started in 1976 and still continues as of press time. However, visitors can still get a glimpse of the tower when visiting the Bullards Beach State Park.
