Built in 1914, the Drift Creek Covered Bridge is considered as the oldest remaining covered bridge in the state of Oregon. It is located in an area south of Lincoln City. Upon the structure?s completion, the community around it is known as Lutgens. The place changed its name 8 times until the post office closed in 1919.

Also known as the Bear Creek Covered Bridge because it crossed Bear Creek at one point, the Dirft Creek Covered Bridge is not standing in its original location anymore. Due to deterioration, Lincoln County officials decided to close the bridge in 1988. It was then passed to the Sweitz family who rebuilt the covered bridge in a park-like setting just eight miles from the original site.
