Occupying the Newberry Crater is the East Lake and its twin, Paulina Lake. It is touted to be in a stunning location, with magnificent sceneries and spectacular geological and archaeological value. All of which can be proven true by a trip to this part of Oregon.

The East Lake is a very interesting place to visit, as it is right in a caldera that was formed more than 500,000 years ago through volcanic eruptions. Its water comes from rain fall, melted snow, and hot springs. It measures up to 67 feet deep on an average, but with 180 feet at its deepest parts.

The site has camping grounds right at its lake shore. There?s also the East Lake Resort where visitors can rent cabins and boats. Fishing is one of the best recreational activities offered in the site, as the lake has rainbow and brown trout.
