If you are fan of aircraft design and technology, for both military and civilian use, then visit one of the biggest aviation museums in the United States – the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum.
The Evergreen museum hosts one of the biggest collections of civilian and military aircrafts, as well as space vehicles and technology. It houses the infamous Hughes H-4 Hercules “Spruce Goose”, owned by businessman Howard Hughes. The museum is located at McMinnville, Oregon, near the McMinnville Municipal Airport.
One of the museum’s popular exhibits is the SR-71 Blackbird, a Cold War-era stealth jet. In 2007, a seven-storey IMAX theater was opened as part of the museum’s demonstration of its exhibits. By June 2011, the museum will open the “Wings and Waves Waterpark”, a unique waterpark featuring recreational and educational facilities.
