Built to serve as an opera house by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Grand Theatre in Salem, Oregon is a historic building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Also known as the Chemeketa Lodge No. 1 or the I.O.O.F. Temple, the theatre was opened in November 1900, with a performance by John Philip Sousa.

Being the continuously moving forward group that they are, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows established their presence in the city of Salem by building a complex that will serve as their meeting place and also help the community as well. The Grand Theatre is one of those structures.

Today, the Grand Theatre still serves its primary function as a film and music venue, providing entertainment to the public.
