The Holman State Wayside is a state park and traditional stopping point in Salem, Oregon. It is also quite a historic site, being used as a wayside since the mid 1800s.
The Holman State Wayside traces its roots back to the time when the old territorial road was created. It passed by the wayside, so this park was created to provide relief and comfort to travelers who pass by the area. The road used to lead to the town of Dallas and further south. A spring was even maximized to serve as a watering hole for the travelers and their livestock.
The Holman State Wayside today is currently most ideal for picnicking, bicycling, and relaxing. The site is also still ideal as a stopping point as it has potable water and restrooms.
