Built in 1864, the Hot Lake Resort was one of the most popular tourist attractions of its time. People flocked to this part of Hot Lake, Oregon to enjoy its relaxing thermal waters and excellent view. It was later developed in 1917, when Dr. W. T. Phy purchased the property and built a state-of-the-art medical facility inside the complex.

Sadly, in 1934, a fire consumed the majority of the site, causing it to close down. After that, the complex served numerous other functions, including an asylum, nursing home, and as a restaurant. It was then abandoned in 1991 due to disrepair.

The Hot Lake Resort was acquired in 203 by David Manuel who restored the site. Most parts of the complex are already finished and functioning as a bed and breakfast.
