The Little River Covered Bridge was opened in 1943 after works led by the well known Douglas County builder, Floyd Frear were completed. It was also known as the Cavitt Creek Bridge, after the body of water it crosses where the Little River and Cavitt Creek meets.

The Little River Covered Bridge features a metal roof with Tudor arch portals in order to accommodate the heavy log trucks that pass through it. Aside from the three windows on each side of the bridge, there are also long narrow slits above each truss so daylight could be allowed in and better ventilation could be had.

The Little River Covered Bridge was slated to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, but the county requested against it.
