Established in 1908, the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge is a wildlife preserve under the care of the US Fish and Wildlife Service. It is situated in the Klamath Basin, in the border of Oregon and California.

The Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge covers up to more than 50 thousand acres. There are ten significant species that lives in the place, some permanently and some are only around on specific seasons. Open to visitors year round, it offers 10 mile auto tours regularly. There are also specific spots that are open to wildlife photographers.

The Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge is a designated National Historic Landmark in 1965. Sadly, it faces a number of issues as of late that threatens its ability to further serve as an adequate habitat to the wildlife that has always been in the area.
