Also called the Earnest Bridge, the Mohawk River Covered Bridge is best known for its appearance in the 1960s movie, Shenandoah. It was filmed in the Mohawk Valley, allowing a glimpse of the said structure in one of its scenes, although, the structure was altered to appear like something from the Civil War.

Sadly, the Mohawk River Covered Bridge was built way later than the Civil War. It was constructed in 1938 as a replacement to an older covered span built in 1903. It was altered slightly by the movie crew with a deal struck with the county, that they will restore the bridge as good or even in a better condition.

The said promise was kept and the Mohawk River Bridge was restored properly with a new coat of paint in 1965.
