Built in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps to house the Umpqua National Forest fire crews, the Musick Guard Station is now a US National Register of Historic Places site. It is also available for rent to recreational visitors since the 1990s.
Located in a forested ridge in between the Grouse Mountain and Fairview Peak, the Musick Guard Station is surrounded with stunning natural scenery. The building itself also meshes well with the surroundings, being a two-story rustic cabin. It is currently for rent for a $40 fee per night, with a capacity of 10 people.
The Musick Guard Station can be accessed by hiking trails. The paths are quite challenging, though, with areas measuring up to 20 percent grades.
