Originally known as the Horse Creek Covered Bridge as it originally crossed the Horse Creek, the Myrtle Creek Covered Bridge has been through a lot of changes in the past. It has been moved from its original location in 1987, after almost two decades of sitting idly after it was bypassed by a concrete bridge in 1968. It has also been divided into two structures when some of its wooden timbers were donated to the City of Cottage Grove, which they subsequently used to build a smaller covered bridge for their park. The remaining structure was given to the city of Myrtle Creek in 1990.

Today, the Myrtle Creek Covered Bridge stands crossing the Myrtle Creek. It connects a parking area to the Mill Site Park.
