Another interesting place to check out in the Oregon Coast is the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. It is located inside the Siuslaw National Forest, with a total area of 21,212 acres.

Aside from being a unique locale of windswept sand that has developed over millions of years of being exposed to the outdoor elements, the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is also the largest area of coastal sand dunes in all of North America. Some of these dunes can form towers of up to 150 meters above sea level in height.

The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area can be enjoyed through fishing, canoeing, hiking, camping, horseback riding, photography, and off road vehicle driving. It is also accessible for wheelchair-bound visitors.
