Located in downtown Portland, Oregon, the Pioneer Courthouse Square is also known as ?Portland?s living room?. Named after the Pioneer Courthouse which stands nearby at the east, the public space could trace its history back to 1856 where it was initially the location for Central School, which was moved somewhere else later on.

The Pioneer Courthouse Square then became the site of the Portland Hotel, and then a parking lot. In the 1970s, the thought of transforming it into a public plaza started to bloom, but the idea only materialized in 1984 after a very long process of planning, raising funds, and overcoming numerous concerns and issues.

Today, the Pioneer Courthouse Square is home to a couple of artworks, events, and other happenings.
