Located in Curry County, Oregon is the coastal Port Orford Heads State Park. Established in 1976, this site is a marvelous coastal park providing excellent ocean vistas, giving visitors the chance to view fishing boats and wildlife like sea lions, seabirds, gray whales, and orcas depending on the season and timing.

Operated by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, the Port Orford Heads State Park can trace its history back to 1934 when one of the oldest the US Coast Guard lifeboat stations was deployed in the area. Today, the Port Orford Lifeboat Station operates as a museum opened by the Point Orford Heritage Society in 2000. The museum features the unsinkable motor lifeboat of the station and the building that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
