Built by David Cole in 1884, the Queen Anne Victorian Mansion had been intended as a wedding gift for his bride Amanda Laura Boone, who was the great-granddaughter of the famous frontiersman Daniel Boone. The cost of the mansion’s construction had reached $8,000, which had then been an enormous sum.

Nowadays, the Queen Anne Victorian Mansion is a popular venue for weddings and other celebrations. It is part of the National Register of Historic Places and boasts of one of the world’s largest collections of Povey stained glass. Such artworks are distinct for having each of its windows display a bird’s image and its round and faceted jewels. Also found on the site include 19th to 20th century historical artefacts including old magazine covers, lithographs and photographs as well as period clothing and furniture.
