A complex consisted of eight historic buildings, the Rand Ranger Station was originally a ranger station built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and the United States Forest Service. It housed the Galice Ranger District until the property was acquired by the Bureau of Land Management in 1970.

Located inside the Siskiyou National Forest, the Rand Ranger Station is composed of eight buildings and one additional structure. Most of these are basic wood buildings. They once functioned as a district office, ranger residences, garage, woodshed, horse barn, blacksmith shop, gas house, and fire equipment warehouse.

The Rand Ranger Station is now being used as a visitor center to the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Its office hours and schedule vary throughout the year, so visitors are advised to call in advance if interested in dropping by the site.
