The Reed Opera House, also known as The Reed, is a performing arts center and shopping mall in downtown Salem, Oregon. It was opened in September 1870 and transferred ownership a couple of times in the past.

The construction of the Reed Opera House was not really intended for an entertainment venue. It was actually meant to house government offices, but since the state?s elected officials changed their minds when the building was already nearing its completion, its builder decided to make adjustments and turn the project into something that could accommodate shops, an opera, and hotel in one building.

The Reed Opera House functioned as such for the longest time. Today, after being thoroughly restored by Roger Yost, the building is home to the elegant Trinity Ballroom, Capitol City Theater, Little Cannoli Bakery, and five popular restaurants -- Napoleons, Macedonia, La Perla Tapatia, Brown's Towne Lounge, BelgiQue Sugar Waffles.
