The Rim Village Historic District is basically the main area for the visitors of the Crater Lake National Park. It was designed by the National Park Service to serve as the initial spot where people could easily access the rim trails and view points of the park.

What made the Rim Village Historic District more special is that it has been declared as a US Historic District and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 for its outstanding rustic architecture. It features six primary buildings, including the Crater Lake Lodge, Kiser Studio, Community House, Cafeteria and Gift Shop, Sinnott Memorial Observation Station, Comfort Station No. 68, and the Comfort Station No. 72. Some of the buildings were altered slightly to modernize their looks a little, but most still retain the distinctive rustic charm that is unique to a lot of NPS buildings.
