The Shimanek Bridge is another covered span that crosses the Thomas Creek in Linn County. It was built in 1966, making it the county?s youngest structure of the sort. Aside from this notable feature, it is also the longest in the area with its 130 feet of total length.

The Shimanek Bridge was built as a replacement to an older bridge in the site, completed in 1861, as some records reveal. This young span was constructed in the same design as the older one with red paint, louvered windows, and portal design. No other bridge in the county has the same aesthetic features.
Believed to be the fifth bridge to occupy the site, it can be said that the

Shimanek Bridge has a long history to tell despite being relatively new.
