Built in 1846, the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church is the oldest brick structure in the Pacific Northwest today. It is also the very first church to be built using bricks not only in St. Paul, but also in the entire state of Oregon.

The St. Paul Roman Catholic Church was established mostly after the Catholic Church finally managed to send priests to the area. Father Francois Norbert Blanchet gave the first mass in the Willamette Valley in 1840. He was also the priest in charge during the dedication of the new church building when it was completed in 1846.

The St. Paul Roman Catholic Church still functions as a worship place today. And due to its participation in the development of the St. Paul community, it has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
