Since first opening its doors on September, 2000, the Lan Su Chinese Garden had already welcomed more than 1.4 million visitors.

The idea for the garden had evolved when Portland officials, such as City Commissioner Mike Lindberg, had travelled to Suzhou and tour its breathtaking gardens in 1985. Three years later, officials of Suzhou and Portland had come into an agreement and the Classical Chinese Garden Society had been established to start planning and construction.

Within the 40,000 square foot property of the Lan Su Chinese Garden, visitors will find attractions such as the 8,000 square foot Lake Zither and free-standing limestone rocks which had been shipped and mined from China?s own fresh water lake, Lake Tai. Inside the Tower of Reflection, visitors may also enjoy drinking authentic Chinese tea and snacks at The Teahouse.
