The Tryon Creek State Natural Area is a state park and recreation area in Portland, Oregon. It is best noted for being the only unit in the Oregon state parks system that is located within a major metropolitan area.
Covering 645 acres, the Tryon Creek State Natural Area takes its name after Socrates Hotchkiss Tryon, Sr., a pioneer settler who donated the land. The park?s size grew through the community?s efforts and is now home to the Tryon Creek watershed. It is filled with various kinds of trees like red alder, bigleaf maple, Western hemlock, and Western redcedar.
Visitors of the Tryon Creek State Natural Area can enjoy biking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, hiking, horseback riding, interpretive tours, and various special events at the park.
