Established in 1908, the Umpqua National Forest is the home to more than250 species of wildlife. It is believed that Native American tribes, ancestors to the Umpqua Indians, lived in the site 7000 years ago, way before the Crater Lake was formed. With its almost 1 million acres worth of land area, there are surely a great number of things that visitors can do while in the site.

If you?re interested in visiting the Umpqua National Forest, you can expect to enjoy rock climbing, boating, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, camping, and mountain biking activities in the site. During the winter, visitors can also enjoy snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and skiing.

There?s also the Rogue-Umpqua National Scenic Byway to drive through and bask in the beautiful sceneries of. Aside from that, there are also three wilderness areas in the site, offering more activities to visitors.
