Spanning the Umpqua River in the city of Reedsport, Oregon is the historic Umpqua River Bridge. It is basically a swing-span bridge consisted of a central spring with two reinforced concrete arches flanking it on each end. The design is important so tall water vessels can still pass through, as that part of the river is well populated by such vehicles.

The Umpqua River Bridge?s total costs came up to $510,500 when it was finished in 1936. It is still open today to traffic. It is also the only swing span bridge in the state of Oregon.

Being another project by the infamous bridge builder Conde McCullough, the Umpqua River Bridge managed to land a spot in the National Register of Historic Places.
