The Velvetria is a Museum of Velvet Paintings that houses 3,000 paintings from all over the world. It aims to practice and promote the celebration of art and culture of the people who spread joy all throughout the planet. The Museum focuses on black velvet paintings. This 20th century art museum also houses other contemporary art pieces aside from its velvet paintings.

It is voted to be one of the Strangest Museums and one of the Top 10 Kitsch Attractions. The Museum has also been featured in several news programs and television shows like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC, Sunday Morning on CBS, No Reservations on the Travel Channel, and others.

The Velvetria closed its doors in Portland in January of 2010.
