Crossing the Ames Creek in Linn County is the Weddle Covered Bridge. It was built in 1937 across the Thomas Creek in the distinctive Linn County bridge design where the sides are mostly open.

In 1987, the Weddle Covered Bridge was dismantled by the local government. After being bypassed by a concrete bridge downstream in the early 1980s, it was left in disrepair so necessary measures were needed to take place if people wanted it to last longer. When it was taken apart, the locals thought that that was the end for the old structure, but luckily, the protests got through the local officials and even gave way to the formation of the Oregon Covered Bridge Program.

This made the Weddle Covered Bridge quite a notable structure today. The locals concerned about its welfare did not only helped this specific structure, but also made it and other covered spans in the state a priority.
