The Willow Prairie Cabin may be another rustic cabin inside a National Forest, but it wasn?t meant to be such initially. It wasn?t meant to serve as a guard station or whatever, as it was built to house road construction crews when the area was still being developed by the Forest Service. Because the area was quite remote, it would be impractical to have workers travel daily from the site to their homes, so a one room shelter was constructed.

Today, the Willow Prairie Cabin is rented out to recreational visitors of the Rogue River-Siskiyou Forest where the building stands. The cabin has a wood-burning stove for heat, a table, some chairs and sleeping cots. It also has a counter space where visitors can prepare meals and hand lanterns.
