Built during the early 1880s by a local merchant and entrepreneur known as Henry Smith, the Wolf Creek Inn State Heritage Site is a historic commercial lodging venue that has once served travelers of the Applegate Trail. It welcomed weary travelers and provided comfort to their tired bodies from the long and arduous journey that they?ve just gone through.

The Wolf Creek Inn State Heritage Site still operates as a hotel and restaurant, making it the longest operating inn located in the Pacific Northwest. Aside from the Oregon pioneers that took the Applegate trail, the site has also welcomed famous individuals like the writer Jack London, and actors like Carol Lombard and Clark Gable. The infamous Orson Welles has also stayed at the inn at one point.

The Wolf Creek Inn State Heritage Site is under the care of the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department.
