Founded in 1812 by the leading naturalists of the young republic, the Academy of Natural Sciences is the oldest natural science research institution and museum in the present day. The Academy will have its 200th birthday in 2012 meaning in almost two centuries of continuous operation the Academy has already conducted original environmental and systematic research and countless expedition. With having more than 17 million specimens of natural history collections the Academy offers educational programs for schools and general public.

The Academy has field trips that offers a range offers educational and yet entertaining experiences for summer camp, class or other groups. Not only kids can enjoy the educational experience that the academy has to offer, the Academy also offers different seminars or programs for adults where they can register for environmental programs, field studies and workshops, lectures and talks, science on tap, and many more which are absolutely for free.

The Academy of Natural Sciences has carried its mission to encourage the current and the future generation to cultivate and the explore sciences in exploring the wonderful diversity the natural world through their innovative exhibits and educational programming.
